A retail business reconciled three sales channels by hand each week, a process that took a team member the better part of two days and still produced occasional mismatches that took longer to trace than to fix.
How we worked through it.
- Mapped every manual step in the existing reconciliation process to find where errors actually originated.
- Rebuilt the data pull as a Power Query workflow that refreshes with one click across all three channels.
- Added automated validation flags for mismatches instead of relying on manual eyeballing.
- Ran the new and old processes in parallel for one full cycle before retiring the manual version.
